FPGA Systems Software Engineer – High-Performance Trading Systems
Are you passionate about building business-critical financial software where every microsecond counts? Do you thrive in an environment that values code quality and collaboration with talented peers? If so, Alipes Capital could be the perfect place for you.
About the Role
At Alipes, you will be part of the ultra-low latency trading team, developing in-house financial software. Your responsibilities will include:
Implementing and optimizing low-latency C++ and C# code that interfaces with our in-house FPGA / SmartNIC stack.
Creating and maintaining the tooling for FPGA testing, as well as validation and production image creation.
Contributing to the in-house fork of the FPGA SmartNIC Linux driver.
Profile and tune end‑to‑end performance across FPGA, PCIe/bridges, host, and network stack (CPU isolation, NIC offloads, kernel‑bypass).
You will collaborate closely with the rest of the FPGA team to translate complex workflows onto the FPGAs and validate the overall system performance in production. The goal is to find the best solutions together to ensure that we can maintain our edge in the trading industry.
About the Team
We’re a growing team of 25 software and hardware engineers who are passionate about what we do. You will be working in an informal environment where technical discussions are valued, and you’re encouraged to take ownership and pride in your work. You’ll have real influence on the team’s direction, set your own priorities, and choose the tools that get the job done.
We work closely with our quantitative analysts and economists, collaborating daily to bridge the gap between research and production. This cross-functional setup means you’ll have direct access to the people designing the trading algorithms, allowing for rapid feedback, shared problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of the business logic behind the code.
About You
At least 3 years of modern C++ (C++17 or later); C# experience is a plus.
Strong Linux systems fundamentals and low‑latency performance tuning (profiling with perf or similar, NUMA/affinity, CPU isolation).
Analytical, curious, and comfortable debugging across hardware / software boundaries.
Nice to have
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
FPGA development experience (RTL/HLS) and understanding of FPGA compute/performance characteristics.
Experience with device driver development on Linux.
What we can Offer You
Competitive benefits, including pension, health insurance, and 30 days of vacation.
A modern office in Copenhagen (Nordhavn) with a flexible hybrid work model.
A flat hierarchy with high levels of trust, autonomy, and freedom to make decisions.
A valued role with unique responsibilities and plenty of room for creativity.
Fast feedback and recognition of your contributions in a high-growth company.
Strong team spirit - successes are celebrated with company events and trips.
